Noted Sportsman Craig Boddington Appointed to PVA’s Outdoor Recreation Heritage Fund Board
Washington, DC —Craig T. Boddington, a globe-trotting outdoors enthusiast and supporter of disabled sports, has been appointed by Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) President Randy L. Pleva, Sr. to the organization’s Outdoor Recreation Heritage Fund Board of Directors. The Fund’s new board member has hunted large and exotic game in Africa, Europe, South America, Australia and New Zealand. Beginning in his home state of Kansas, Boddington hunted small game, waterfowl and eventually whitetail deer. His exploits over several decades have been shared with other enthusiasts through the publication of 18 books and more than 2,500 magazine articles he has authored. Boddington has 30 years’ service as a Marine Corps infantry officer in both active duty and in the reserves. He earned various commendations, including the Defense Superior Service Medal. His final post as a Marine was vice commander, Marine Forces Pacific. He retired last fall. "I've been involved with PVA's outdoors projects for several years, and I'm both proud and excited to join the Board of the PVA Outdoor Recreation Heritage Fund,” Boddington said. “I've been fortunate to have spent so much of my life enjoying the outdoors, and it's all too easy to take for granted. Our goal is to expand this opportunity, both for PVA members and all disabled persons--and to ensure that opportunity for the future." “Craig brings a lifetime of big-time hunting experience and effective leadership skills that will benefit those who participate in PVA’s outdoor recreational programs. Because PVA is committed to improving the quality of life of outdoors enthusiasts who are disabled, I am very happy that he agreed to serve on the Fund’s board,” Pleva stated. In 2002 the PVA Outdoor Recreation Heritage Fund was established to permanently endow PVA’s many outdoor sports programs. These programs encompass a wide variety of activities from local to national levels and facilitate full individual participation. Donations are tax-deductible and will remain in the fund generating perpetual annual revenues.
