Fishing with Ninilchik Charters for Halibut- Deep Creek, Alaska is well prepared for wheelchair anglers with this enclosed lift that will gently set you in the boat. Ninilchik Charters is run by Mike and Kathy Flores. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time and we could not have had a better first mate than their son Michael and I have worked with many through the years.

![]() The calm waters made for a very enjoyable trip to our Halibut hunting grounds. The 17 mile trip was a real pleasure and with temperatures averaging in the 70's to low 80's we could not have asked for better weather. |

Mike and Michael rebaiting hooks which is almost a full time job. When you are over a school of Halibut the action is almost non-stop. After one or two you are ready for a rest in the action. Imagine pulling up a fish from 200 ft one after another, with the flat shape of the halibut it is comparable to pulling up a moving rock as their large surface area provides lots of drag..

![]() Day two Halibut catch All told we were each able to keep 45lbs of Halibut from our 2 days of fishing. The best way I have found over the years when fishing with friends is to agree to divide the haul among all anglers.

Our Ships mate and owners son Michael with a halibut we did not catch, a beautiful 200 pounder from one of Mike's other boats. The cabin in the background will be seeing a renovation this year in order to accommodate wheelchair guests. We advised Mike on changes that would be necessary and he agreed to have the cabins all prepared well before the 2006 Anchorage wheelchair games. Even for those desiring to fish Alaska before then plenty of wheelchair accessible lodging is available in the town of Soldotna, AK appx 30 mins North of Ninilchik charters. Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have about fishing anywhere on the Kenai river or ocean fishing for halibut. I have been fishing Alaska for over 20 years.
