Fishing aboard the Blue chip too w/Captain Skip Bradeen

Team PVA

Day two

As luck would have it the man with the camera was the first to hook up this morning (no pictures), a large fish grabbed my bait from the surface and shot straight to the bottom of the sea. The fish gave me no slack for reeling and was in complete control with the lighter tackle we were required to use for the tournament. Eventually the fish swam into some heavy cover and ran the line against a very sharp object and the line cut.

Dolphins

And more dolphins

Prior to the next sequence of photos every member of Team PVA was hooked into a sailfish at the same time and the chaos began. A short battle was fought as fish were skipping the surface seemingly everywhere, soon lines were crossed and hooks were thrown on all but the beautiful fish Ben Ritter was battling. Needless to say I was unable to shoot any of the spectacular aerial acrobatics during this time as a result of my own fish on the line. Outdoor Channel photographer Tom Kelsey spent the day with us and he was able to take quite a few photos and when I have received a copy of the photos I will include them here.

Ben's beautiful sailfish with sail in full flair as it is wrestled closer to the boat for tournament required photos and release.

Ben Ritter's gorgeous sailfish specimen that kept him busy for an arm numbing 20-30 minutes.  This was a first sailfish for Ben and of course as we came to call it "he was slimed". Tournament rules called for the release of all billfish so we had begun the practice the day before of pulling the fish onto the lap of our lucky angler for proof photos for bragging rights.

Beautiful weather, the best partners and crew all made for a spectacular tournament that will certainly not be soon forgotten.

The Outdoor Channel crew and volunteers that organized this event are owed a tremendous amount of gratitude for making this tournament one to truly be remembered, everything was beyond all expectations and everyone was fantastic and we will all be leaving this tournament with many new found friends.

We have had the tremendous pleasure of meeting with Mark Sosin of Mark Sosin's Saltwater journal TV show. Mark is a pioneer in outdoor television and has been continually on the air for over 20 years and his show can be seen on The Outdoor Channel.

I also owe a thanks to all of the crew from The Old South marlin Club, a great crew that made the event that much more fun .

We also had the pleasure of sharing time with tremendous PVA supporters Jim Jones and David Maynard of  Hunting Across America and Fishing Across America, both of these shows can also be seen on The Outdoor Channel.

Photos of this evening's award banquet will be posted on Monday November 22nd.

I will also be posting photos from Outdoor Channel photographer Thomas Kelsey (With Tom's permission) from other events associated with the tournament in the very near future.
